    The General Surgery Department of Clifford Hospital is staffed with many famous professors, experts and technical personnel, among who are 2 chief surgeon professors, 2 vice-chief surgeons, 3 attending surgeons, 3 resident surgeons and 3 surgeons with master degree. The Department has many special divisions, including hepatobiliary pancreatic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, minimally invasive surgery, mastopathy, etc. It is equipped with advanced equipments, such as spiral water knife, laparoscope, choledochoscope, etc. It ranks in the first place in the world in treating primary hepatoma, pancreatic tumor, cholangiocarcinoma, carcinoma of gallbladder, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, gastrocolonic cancer, intensive acute pancreatitis and angiocholitis, hyperplasia of mammary glands and thyroid disease with laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and appendectomy.

    Scope of Diagnosis and Treatment

    1. Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery: With the treatment of primary liver cancer by triple and quadruple chemotherapy and green comprehensive therapy, liver cancer relapses and metastasis are less after liver carcinosectomy. Besides, life span is prolonged, increasing by five to ten years, which reaches the most advanced China level. Moreover, we conduct difficult operations for treating cholangiocarcinoma, gallbladder cancer, pancreatic cancer, exterior and interior liver and biliary calculi, portal hypertension, and congenital disease of biliary tract etc.
    2. Chinese TCM Mastopathy Prevention and Research Center: There is research studying the integration of TCM with Western medicine for the prevention and treatment of cystic breast disease (folial hyperplasia), acute mastitis, and malignant tumor/benign tumor in breast It is effective to combine radical correction on breast cancer with green comprehensive therapy.
    3. Minimally Invasive Surgery: With advanced equipment like abdominoscope, this surgery can minimize a 10cm wound to several millimeters. This is helpful to reduce patients' trauma and scar with advantages of quick recovery and little complication. There are many surgical procedures, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic herniorrhaphy, abdominoscope resection of liver hemangioma, laparoscopic liver cyst drainage, laparoscopic colectomy, laparoscopic gastric perforation repair, laparoscopic bowel obstruction release and laparoscopic tumor exploration etc.
    4. Gastrointestinal Surgery: There are many surgical procedures, like gastrointestinal cancer radical correction surgery, low rectal cancer surgery, gastrointestinal tract reconstruction,  gastrointestinal polyp excision, gastrointestinal duodenal ulcer surgery, ankylenteron surgery, operation on inflammatory bowel disease, and surgery of hernia, fistula, and hemorrhoid.
    5. Thyroid Surgery: There is not only conventional thyroid tumor resection, with subtotal thyroidectomy, but also unilateral and bilateral radical resection of thyroid cancer, and entire cervical lymph node dissection.
    6. Acute Abdomen Diseases: With integration of TCM with Western Medicine, acute abdomen diseases can be treated. Diseases like acute appendicitis, acute intestinal obstruction, severe acute pancreatitis, severe acute cholangitis, cholecystitis, and peptic ulcer perforation can be cured. These operation techniques have reached an advanced level in China.
    7. Hernia Treatment: This includes all types of hernia in children and adults.
