Established in 2002, the cardiology department, is one of the featured specialties of Clifford Hospital. It is a part of the key specialty construction initiatives of Guangdong Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The Cardiology Department is staffed with an expert medical team, with their technological expertise, deliver high quality cardiac care and rehabilitation. The patient services include consultant clinic, outpatient clinic, chest pain clinic, inpatient wards, cardiac catheterization & intervention center and ventricular function examination room. Common tests for heart function include: Electrocardiogram, Holter Monitoring, Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, Treadmill Exercise Test, etc.
Since 2002, the department has been providing PCI, permanent pacemaker implantation and radiofrequency ablation. With the integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western Medicine and Natural Medicine, the unit has progressed to meet the demands of common and challenging heart diseases, refractory heart failure, and multiple organ failure in cardiovascular diseases. Our commitment for over a decade has yielded expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac care, winning the reputation of a leading care provider in the cardiology community in China. In particular, PCI is a state-of-the-art technology in the treatment of coronary heart disease, and combination of Western Medicine, TCM and Natural Medicine has proven remarkable therapeutic outcome.
An integrative approach to therapies is limitless in treating heart failure, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, myocarditis, and thromboembolism. As treatment of cardiac emergency is time-sensitive, Clifford Hospital has established a Chest Pain Center which is follow the standard procedure of “Chinese Chest Pain Center”. With our “Fast Track Admission” program, it helps to shorten the onset to treatment time, improve the efficiency of treatment and achieve a higher survival rate.
The department puts focus on research & development. Professors Cao Guimin and Wang Junchang succeeded their academic expertise from a famous historic academia in medicine. They jointly developed Xinfuning Granules which is clinically effective in the treatment of coronary heart disease, and was validated by Guangdong TCM Formula Approval (No.YZJ-2012-0007). Qidong Jiedu Oral Solution, a new national-level Category III Chinese medicine, was developed under the leadership of Prof. Cao Guimin (its Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Approval and New Medicine Certification were issued by the State Food and Drug Administration with No.Z20000122 and No.Z20000076 respectively). The Oral Solution won second prize in Science and Technology Progress Award by Shanxi Education Commission (Prize No.96204)for treatment of acute viral myocarditis. In addition, the Cardiology Department has been approved for two major scientific research projects in Guangdong Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, respectively Xinfuning No.IV (for heart failure) and Shanchuan Anti-lipid Formula (for hyperlipemia).
In July 2016, Clifford Hospital established a Chest Pain Center (with a Chest Pain Clinic), it provides access to fast track clinical pathways for emergency and critically ill patients with diseases characterized by acute chest pain, such as acute myocardial infarction, aortic dissection, and pulmonary embolism. The center ensures patients' access to rapid assessment, accurate screening, correct triage, and appropriate treatment as our commitment to patients' lives and interests.
