Iontophoresis is a technique which uses an electric current to deliver a medicine through the skin or mucosa. It is based on the principle that ionic charges which are alike will repel one another, while ions that are oppositely charged will be attracted to one another.

Medicine ions are pushed into the blood through the skin while using iontophoresis. With functions of regulating blood and Qi, removing stagnation and pain, reducing swelling and inducing diuresis, iontophoresis is applicable to various kidney disorders, kidney deficiency, lumbago due to blood stasis, constipation, etc.
