Dr. Hu is a second grade professor of Neurology Dept. in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, a first grade chief physician, and a supervisor for doctoral students.

He has been involved in neurologic care, teaching and scientific research for more than 30 years. He is the director of Neuroimmunology Branch of Chinese Society for Immunology, Immunology Branch of Chinese Stroke Association, and Neuroimmunology Branch of Neurologist Association of Chinese Medical Doctor Association.

In 1996, Prof. Hu was honored as Guangdong Provincial Outstanding Youth Expert. He once won Guangdong Science and Technology Achievement Award, Guangdong Natural Science Award, National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology from State Education Commission of the PRC, Science and Technology Progress Award from Ministry of Education of the PRC, the first prize of Award for Excellent Paper of Ministry of Health of the PRC and Chinese Medical Association, and the Fifth Wu Jieping-Paul Janssen Medical and Pharmaceutical Award.

Dr. Hu specializes in diagnostics and therapeutics of cerebrovascular and neuroimmunological diseases. He published over 280 papers and edited and published several monographs like Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunological Diseases.
