Dystonia, also called abnormal muscle tone syndrome, is manifested as a movement disorder. The research and clinical practice by the neurologist team yielded three therapeutic approaches, namely, drug therapy, local injection of botulinum toxin A, and surgery. Local injection of botulinum toxin A is used for focal or segmental muscular tone disorder. Surgical procedures (peripheral intervention, thalamotomy and deep brain stimulation) are performed for severe cases unresponsive to drug therapy.
