Prof. Dr. Clifford Pang, the president and leading oncologist of Clifford Hospital, was reelected as the President for International Clinical Hyperthermia Society (ICHS) for 2017 in recognition of his academic influence in the field of medical hyperthermia and outstanding achievements in hyperthermia treatment application in cancer and other diseases. His election was announced at the 34th ICHS Annual Conference held in Pesaro, Italy on September 22, 2016. He had won his first ICHS presidency back in 2013. With this election, Prof. Dr. Clifford Pang has become the only president serving two tenures in the 36-year history of ICHS.
Hyperthermia is a type of treatment in which the whole body or body parts of a patient are exposed to high temperatures (up to 40℃) so as to trigger changes of the structure and proteins in the cells. These changes can damage tumor cells or make them more likely to be affected by other treatments such as radiotherapy or chemotherapy. On the 34th ICHS Annual Conference, Dr. Clifford Pang delivered the speech of “The Immune Regulating Effects of Hyperthermia in Combination with TCM on Cancer Patients”, in which he explored the immune regulating effects of hyperthermia in combination with TCM on cancer patients and its potentiality in anti-cancer treatments. Experts in all fields of hyperthermia from all over the world also presented their treatment results and studies of hyperthermia intraperitoneal chemotherapy in cancers, and efficacy of capacitive hyperthermia alone or in combination with chemotherapy, radiotherapy as well as non-cancerous diseases.

After his reelection, Dr. Pang says that he would continue to devote to promoting international exchanges on hyperthermia clinical applications and technique improvements on the ICHS platform so that this treatment can benefit more patients around the world in a more effective way
