A KUB (kidney, ureter, and bladder) X-ray is also known as a “flat plate of the abdomen x-ray”. It is often used as a first step in diagnosing problems of the urinary system. It aims to determine the size, shape, and position of the kidneys and bladder, to detect obvious abnormalities of the urinary system, such as kidney stones, etc.

The day before the examination, patient would be prescribed laxative to discharge feces and gas so as to clean the intestine and make clear visualization while undergoing this examination.
